The 4th edition of Porto/Post/Doc runs from 27 November to 3 December at Rivoli Theatre and Passos Manuel Cinema. The festival offers the best in contemporary films, which translates in an eclectic mix of events, featuring 12 films that make up an international competition, ranging from documentary to drama works.

Helping the Kara Tepe, Moria, Pikpa, and First Landing camp refugees in the island of Lesbos, in Greece, is the intention of the "Programme Agasalha" [wrap-up warmly], launched Tuesday by the Refugees Welcome Porto.

In the first ten months of this year, 16.4 million tons of freight passed through the seaport of Leixões. The port structure, shows a 8.1% increase vs. the same period last year.

Unique objects on display at the Pharmacy Museum in Porto, on 23 November, starting at 2 pm, under the celebration of the 21st anniversary of that institution. Themed "Museu Global 20 + 1", the exhibition features a set of objects that will be publicly displayed for the first time.

A documental show and a guided tour mark the International Day of Tolerance and UNESCO at the Municipal Library Almeida Garrett (BMAG), in the Gardens of the Palácio de Cristal, 16 November.

The Porta-Jazz festival is back in Porto, from 2 to 9 November, with the biggest-ever edition, this is one of the highlights of the Jazz Programme in town. This event includes 17 concerts, featuring premieres and artistic exchanges, and will bring to the city of Porto 70 professional musicians, of which 20 are foreign.

British Astronomer Royal, sir Martin Rees will be in Porto, this week, to talk about the opportunities and threats in the field of science in the 21st century. Regarded as one of the world's greatest scientific minds of our times, Martin Rees delivers a lecture at the Biodiversity Gallery in the University of Porto, 17 November, starting at 6 pm.

The Casa do Rio - Quinta do Vallado won Best Of Wine Tourism 2018. The international winners of the Best Of Wine Tourism 2018 awards were announced during the General Assembly of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, which was held in Valparaiso, in Chile.

The Forum of the Future is an event that was born out of a desire for a society where we are happier. It started in Porto in 2014 and its mentors are Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto and former Councilman for the Cultural Department Paulo Cunha e Silva.

The President of the Republic commended the way Porto region has been supporting Education and Social Cohesion by investing in the health component. The Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP), also referred to as Porto Polytechnic recently opened the School of Health new premises at the university campus of Asprela and was honoured by the presence of the President of the Republic who praised the "quality and excellence of higher education" in the city.
