The Head of State commends the excellence of higher education in Porto at the opening of the School of Health new installations

The President of the Republic commended the way Porto region has been supporting Education and Social Cohesion by investing in the health component.

The Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP), also referred to as Porto Polytechnic recently opened the School of Health new premises at the university campus of Asprela and was honoured by the presence of the President of the Republic who praised the "quality and excellence of higher education" in the city, and
by Mayor Rui Moreira.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was awarded the Title of Honour of Porto Polytechnic, the highest distinction ever conferred by this institution and further stated that "in Porto there is dialogue, exchanges and cooperation", what boosts development. The President also applauded the "resolute courage of people", and its "transforming and attraction effect, a sense of collective future which is unique".

The President of IPP spotlighted the financial effort to set up this School, a direct investment greater than 10, 5 million euro, which means committing to people, to Education, to Investigation in the field of health".

The School of Health (ESS) is the largest institution in the Polytechnic Higher Education in the country. The ESS has the largest number of students - 2250, 12 Teaching degrees, and 10 Masters.
