Helping the Kara Tepe, Moria, Pikpa, and First Landing camp refugees in the island of Lesbos, in Greece, is the intention of the "Programme Agasalha" [wrap-up warmly], launched Tuesday by the Refugees Welcome Porto.

The programme objective is to collect essential goods and basic personal necessities, namely winter footwear, warm clothes, diapers, toilet articles, tea and coffee (the full list is available on the website) for a period of two months, from 15 November 2017 to 15 January 2018, in the several collecting points of the Porto region.

The Refugees Welcome Porto also calls on people's help to fund transport in partnership with Humanitarian Support Agency.

Approximately one thousand people arrive to the camps every two weeks, taking with them the clothes they are wearing and the few possessions they own.

Thousands of refugees live in makeshift shelters with no heating or sanitation. And must endure the hardship of winter at temperatures below freezing point.

The Refugees Welcome Porto was formed by a group of young people who intends to contribute to the culture of solidarity and togetherness towards the refugees' crisis.

This project was favourably received by the Portuguese Association Home Without Borders and it was launched in September 2015.
