U.Porto is part of the Alliance for Global Health that wants to pioneer the European universities of the future

The University of Porto is working with the counterparts of Lund (Sweden), Ludwig-Maximilian of Munich (Germany), Paris-Saclay (France) and Szeged (Hungary) to building the European Universities of tomorrow, in the framework of the great challenges regarding global health for the future.

Students from Porto Elementary School win cinema festival in Slovenia

Students from Fonte da Moura Elementary School in Porto won Best Film Award at the ENIMATION Festival, which was held in Slovenia. "A Dança das Máscaras" ["The Dance of the Masks", free translation], an animated film directed by 3rd grade students of the said school in the academic year 2017/18, was awarded, the first prize in the category "MINI - films directed by children up to 10 years old" at the International Children and Youth Film Festival ENIMATION.

UPTEC debates Transdisciplinary Approach to Social Innovation in New York on 12 December

Porto City Hall holds a conference you can't afford to miss

Porto City Hall will host a Conference on Human Rights themed "Direitos Humanos - Quo Vadis?" [Human Rights- Quo vadis?] on 10 December. The main goal of this event is to mark the International Human Rights Day and the 70th anniversary of the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, on 10 December 1948. The conference will be held at the Town Hall, at 9.30 pm and it is entrance free.

The University of Porto wins bronze at International Programming Competition and qualifies for world final 2019 in Porto

A team from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) won the bronze medal at the Southwestern Europe Regional Contest (SWERC) 2018 held in Paris and qualified for the world final, to be held in Porto in 2019.

Euroknitters visit Porto City Hall to talk about the unity of Europe

Teachers and students of the Euroknitters project have visited Porto City Hall to present their project: the strengthening of unity within the European Union. This group includes different nationalities, such as Spain, Estonia, Greece, Italy and Portugal, from the School Group of Cerco do Porto, the host institution in Porto.

Eldercare "Programa Aconchego" from Porto is granted the Innovation@Home international award

The "Programa Aconchego", designed by Porto City Hall jointly with Porto Academic Federation (FAP) to help senior citizens age in place was awarded the Innovation@Home international honour. The prize giving ceremony was held in Quebec, Canada, during the International Technical Meeting on Ageing at Home, and John Feather, CEO of Grantmakers In Aging (GIA), handed the award to Porto City Hall representatives.

The Forum of the Future welcomes Margaret Atwood

Margaret Atwood, a Canadian multi awarded poet, novelist, writer, literary critic, essayist, inventor, teacher and environmental activist will be at the Forum of the Future, in the city of Porto, from 4 to 10 November. The writer will talk about the importance of mythology in her work, encompassing topics such as gender, identity, language and social order.

Student from Porto University is granted prize to pursue investigation on pain

A student from Porto University was awarded a grant to pursue the investigation on pain. The Young Researchers Grant on Pain is awarded to projects that study the pain of neuropathic origin, funded by the Grünenthal Foundation.
