A student from Porto University was awarded a grant to pursue the investigation on pain. The Young Researchers Grant on Pain is awarded to projects that study the pain of neuropathic origin.

Luísa Teixeira Santos, from the Pharmacological Research Centre and Drug Innovation of Porto University (MedInUP), will be given a prize Money worth 10 mil euros to support her research and "try to prevent that an acute inflammation grows into chronic and persistent inflammation".

The young researcher, in a statement to Lusa, said that "the traditional approach is the anti-inflammation, that is, the main focus is to merely reduce the aspect that leads to the inflammation; my research is about the pro-resolution, trying to limit and solve the inflammation".

This grant is funded by the Grünenthal Foundation.
