Students from Cerco Schools area receive 200 computers by the EDP Foundation

This morning, Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira and the General Director of the EDP Foundation, Miguel Coutinho paid a special visit to students in Cerco Schools, with a special mission: to grant 200 computers that will help them tackle constraints regarding access to remote education. Parents accompanied their children to school today, as this marks full access to remote learning for the most vulnerable students at Cerco Elementary School.

The Municipality of Porto launched the Porto. card just a week ago, and by now over 4.200 people have adhere to the card. All residents in Porto can adhere to the online card, through the uploading of all the necessary documents. Free membership can accordingly be made in-person, at the Townsman Office (Gabinete do Munícipe), at Porto municipal libraries, at Porto Municipal Theatre - Rivoli and at the municipal pools.

Phone call from space: Russian cosmonaut is back to the University of Porto

The online talk between the Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko and Portuguese students will take place on 14th April and will be streamed via the faculty’s YouTube.

Porto tackles palm catterpillar infestation in Passeio Alegre

The Municipality of Porto already started the palm plantation at the Jardim do Passeio Alegre and also at the Avenida de D. Carlos I, to replace the ones that had to be removed, last December, due to a palm caterpillar’s infestation.

Little minds at work with BMAG storytelling “Sábados a Contar”

Porto Municipal Theatre takes to the online stage the premieres of the works “If only this was about food + Cor de burro quando foge”, on 9th April, at 9 pm – transmitted on Facebook & Youtube TMP. The performances are available on 10th and 11th April, through the BOL Live Streaming, for 48 hours.

There are 21 new STCP buses running on CNG in Porto

Porto is tackling the problem of local urban pollution, by using CNG – Compressed natural gas to power the first buses running in the Invicta. This is part of the STCP policies of implementing a decarbonisation of its operations. The goal is that by October, another 60 buses that are powered by CNG will integrate its fleet, alongside five electrical vehicles, thus enabling to reach the 274 “green” buses landmark.

Open Call funding of 70 thousand euros available for boosting the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem

The 5th edition of the ScaleUp Porto Open Call is fully innovation, technology and entrepreneurship driven and there are 70 thousand euros to fund related activities in Porto. Applications are open until 7th May.
