Open Call funding of 70 thousand euros available for boosting the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem

The 5th edition of the ScaleUp Porto Open Call is fully innovation, technology and entrepreneurship driven and there are 70 thousand euros to fund related activities in Porto. Applications are open until 7th May.

This initiative is promoted by Porto City Hall, through the ScaleUp Porto strategy, by challenging entities and collective organisations, national or foreigner, to boost activities related to the following areas: educational initiatives in the field of technologically based entrepreneurship and support to conceive new projects and business ideas; development of studies; mapping and ecosystem evaluation; initiatives to knowledge sharing and capacity building of startup teams; and initiatives to promote and boost technological communities.

Each application will be awarded funding up to a maximum of 10 thousand euros; it is not mandatory that the estimate budget matches that amount (which is an incentive to proposed initiatives).

As in previous editions, the Open Call 2021 relies on an external and recognised jury of the city’s entrepreneurial system. The three editions of the Open Call (Convocatória Aberta) already concluded registered a total of 152 applications, which resulted in 24 selected activities (promoted by 17 different organizations) and included over 9 thousand participants.

With ongoing activities, it is worth mentioning that, last year, ScaleUp Porto highlighted the following projects: Future Female Founders Program, International Datathon, Porto Tech Hiring Conference, The State of Presence Report, Making Our Future, OPO.network, and Culture Code.
