The studio SUMMARY, led by architect Samuel Gonçalves, alumnus of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP), won the prestigious dezeen Awards 2020 in the category “Emerging Architect of the Year”.

The U.Porto and the recently created Chamber of Commerce Portugal-China SME (CCPC-PME) signed a cooperation agreement on 19th November, with the purpose of implementing joint programmes and initiatives in the scientific, cultural areas and recruitment of foreign students.

Starting this Friday, economic operators in town can count on the specialised service of the support line “Revitaliza Porto”. This is a free support service launched by the Municipality of Porto, via InvestPorto, whose goal is to support the business community in the city of Porto in the response to the pandemic crisis.

Starting on 23rd November, the "Cultura em Expansão" is back to two new venues and wit new timetables. All events are to take place in Passos Manuel and the Hard Club. The closing performance still features at Theatre Rivoli, with Blind Zero and the Orquestra Juvenil da Bonjóia. Also, to comply with the mandatory curfew, the performances’ schedule was altered and will start earlier than usual.

Tomorrow, 20th November, is the deadline of the "Abanca-te no Bolhão" campaign, [“Trading at Bolhão” (free translation)] as regards the application period to hold a vendor place at the restored and renovated Bolhão Market. There are 42 new stalls, 6 restaurants and 12 stores. The application is available at the digital platform for public tenders (concursos/compras públicos(as)) AcinGov (www.acingov.pt), which provides all the necessary information. Applications must be submitted until 11.59pm.

Porto/Post/Doc 2020 theme is alterations, a society that is forever changing the way things are perceived, be it on politics, economy, society and technology. This year’s edition is (rightfully) themed “A Cidade do Depois” ["The After City", free translation], and takes place between 20 and 29 November, in venues such as Rivoli, Passos Manuel, Porto Planetarium and Escola das Artes of the Universidade Católica. Programming is featured both online and in-person.

Artificial Intelligence, Digital Health, Smart Cities and sustainability are some of the topics under approach in this year’s Tomorrow Summit. Owing to the pandemic, the summit, exclusively organised by the Federação Académica do Porto - FAP, takes to a virtual platform. The event is free and it is held on 25th, 26th and 27th November.

Xmas is just around the corner and in spite of the unprecedented times we are living at global level, the “Montras de Natal” contest is here, as tradition, to showcase the best businesses in the city of Porto. The Xmas Window decoration contest is promoted by Porto City Hall, jointly with the Traders Association of Porto. This is now the 5th edition and applications are running till 30th November.
