One in every four Portuguese scientific papers is made in U.Porto

Between 2015 and 2019, the University of Porto was in charge or participated in 23. 8% of all scientific papers of Portuguese scientific institutions. This conclusion is based on the results provided by the Web of Science – WoS (SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI e A&HCI), a database that is at the heart of the Web of Science platform and provides access to thousands of bibliographic references on high level of editorial rigor journals, in several areas.

Card Porto. offers free transport and discounts in the city from 13 - 18 years of age

People aged between 13 and 18 years old, who do not have the “Andante 13-18” transport ticket, can load an "Andante 3Z Porto." subscription, of the public transport Andante network, at no charge, and with added benefits of the Porto. card, such as discounts and perks in different equipment in the city. The loading of subscriptions runs from 1 July to 31 August.

Fonoteca Municipal do Porto promotes a cycle of talks this July

Along with its musical patrimony, the Fonoteca Municipal do Porto (FMP) aka Porto Audio Room offers two public events this month of July, to bring people closer to the contemporary culture and the Fonoteca’s large acquis. The first event kicks off on 9 July and the second happens on 25 July. Access is free, and both events take place between 5 pm and 6 pm. Students’ residences by BigCity Asprela will enhance student housing in Porto

In July 2022, the number of available student residence units will reaffirm the city as a housing hub. The BigCity Asprela, a 30 million euros investment by BigCity and Reditum Capital, will bring 241 beds to the city, in an area of 10.850 square metres.

Municipal advisors agree that TAP does not operate in the region and claim support to attract foreign operators

The joint meeting of the Municipal Councils for Tourism and Economy was held on 30 July, at the Rivoli, and on the agenda was, among other topics, the role of air transport in the city.

Rehabilitation works of Pérgola da Foz are concluded

The renovation works of the iconic Pérgola da Foz are concluded and represent a municipal investment of circa 371 thousand euros. The Pergola’s concrete structure and the entire balcony, balustrade and ramparts were renovated, as well as the beach access ramps, from the Jardim dos Ingleses to the Esplanada do Molhe. Works were carried out by the municipal company GO Porto – Gestão e Obras do Porto.

The Government already authorizes the drive-thru vaccination centre at the Queimódromo

The Government gave the green light to the drive-thru vaccination centre at the Queimódromo, located in the Parque da Cidade, which will enable, at full capacity, to give two thousand shots per day.

FEUP starts the ICT Academy by Huawei and boosts talent

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) officialised a partnership with Huawei Portugal to implement the ICT Academy, the knowledge and innovation programme by the multinational company Huawei, with the main objective of both enhancing the Faculty’s educational contents in the Information and communication technologies (ICT) area and strengthen Huawei’s rapport with the university milieu in the country.

The Magical Garden was designed for adults and children alike, by the studio OCUBO and will make you embark on a journey to the four corners of the world. The magic adds up with the 17 installations of light that comprise over 300 flashlights and the thousands of LED bulbs. This immersive nocturnal experience takes place from Thursdays to Sunday, and offers three sessions: at 9.30 pm, at 10.15 pm and at 11 pm.

Porto establishes the role of Local Accommodation Mediator

Local Accommodation (AL) in Porto will rely on the services of a mediator to assist and guide the stakeholders in the sector, namely residents, facility managers, tourists and apartment complex managers. The proposal was presented by the councillor for Economy, Tourism, and Trade, Ricardo Valente, during the Executive Meeting held yesterday, 28 June and it was approved by a majority. The CDU party abstained.
