World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated on April 26th and this year the theme is "Powering change: Women in innovation and creativity".

The original artistic works of authorship and the creators of works of the mind, such as literature, music, art, copyright, trademarks, geographical indications, industrial designs, layout designs of integrated circuits, patents and their designs, undisclosed information and trade secrets are protected by law.

World Intellectual Property Day 2018 campaign honours the genius and the talent of the women who inspire change in society worldwide towards a better future and as representatives of cultural organisations and industries.

This celebration date is held since 2000, when WIPO - World Intellectual Property Organization sought to devote this day to raising awareness on the importance of protecting intellectual work and creation, thus encouraging innovation and creativity.
