Serralves welcomed more than 700 thousands visitors in 2016

The Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, in Porto, welcomed 682,713 visitors in 2016, an increase of 30 percent over the previous year. 

The Museum saw an increase in traffic of more than 40% last year, when compared to 2015.

The exhibition "Joan Miró: Materiality and Metamorphosis" on view since September 30th met with huge success: due to the massive visitors number it will be extended till June 4th. Since its opening, the exhibition has brought in an audience of over 95 thousand.

The Museum of Serralves is taking on its ever significant role as a platform for showcasing best contemporary art featuring exhibitions not only indoors but abroad, with a series of 29 exhibitions planned, such as Corpus, by Helena Almeida, to open at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Valencia, Spain in February.

The Park and the Serralves Museum will curate, for the first time ever, a permanent collection section.

The São Paulo Biennial will travel outside of Brazil and will be reconfigured for the cultural setting of the city of Porto and Serralves Museum, for the first time in 60 years.
