São João National Theatre features "Macbeth" and premieres three plays at the beginning of 2018

The first quarter programming regarding the coming year of 2018 of São João National Theatre (SJNT) opens with Benjamin Britten's opera. Till the end of March, the highlights are the three scheduled premieres and the presentation of "Macbeth".

The schedule programming opens with "The Rape of Lucretia", by British composer Benjamin Britten, from 5 to 7 January, staged by Luís Miguel Cintra and musical direction by João Paulo Santos.

On 16 March 2018, the São João National Theatre hosts a recital featuring pieces of music inspired by Almeida Garrett, Lord Byron and Victor Hugo, sung by soprano Sara Braga Simões, accompanied on the piano by Rui Martins.

"Macbeth", an in-house production, which opened at the São João National Theatre in June, is now on stage at National Theatre D. Maria II and it will be performed in the city of Porto from 21 February to 11 March.

To celebrate the World Day of Theatre, on 27 March, there will be a screening of the documentary titled "I Don't Belong Here", about the Portuguese American expatriate community in the Azores.

The season ends with the adaptation of " Nathan the Wise", by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, staged by Rodrigo Francisco, Almada Theatre Company Director, at São João national Theatre, from 22 to 25 March.
