Russa, Aleixo and Porto are on their way to the Berlinale

The short film "Russa" depicting the daily lives of people from the Aleixo neighbourhood is in Berlin for the International Film Festival.

The storyline of the Portuguese short "Russa" is the real lives of Aleixo inhabitants and the plot involves every bit of their existence, uncensored.

The film was produced in the context of "Cultura em Expansão" Municipal Programme, and it is screened today, 19 February, at 4 pm in Berlin.

Directed by João Salaviza (who has won the Golden Bear in 2012) and Ricardo Alves Jr., the film portrays the day to day situations of the Aleixo district and it is presented as highlight at the event that runs in Berlin between 15 and 25 February.

The competition includes 21 other films from 18 countries in the short subject competition.

The prizes are the Golden Bear, the Silver Bear, the Audi Award (20 000 euros) and the nomination for the European cinema Awards.

This short was co-produced by Porto City Hall Culture Department and it was presented at Rivoli during the closing of the "Cultura em Expansão" Programme, last December.
