WOMEX 2021 applications are open. The most relevant music support and development projects event in the global music scene - the World Music Expo – will be held in Porto, an absolute debut in the country, between 27 and 31 October. WOMEX will introduce thousands of music makers and music lovers from over 90 countries, in the Invicta.

Porto will play host to WOMEX Festival in October 2021, at Porto Customs, from 27 to 31 October, and it will be held in several venues in the city that will, in turn, host conferences, a fair, concerts, film projections and ceremonies.

This event will make its first absolute debut in Portugal, in Porto, where thousands of music lovers and music makers from over 90 countries will gather in the Invicta.

The highlight of the event is at Porto Customs, which is to host a set of conferences by representatives of the musical sector. Other venues are Casa da Música, Teatro Rivoli, Coliseu do Porto, Teatro Nacional de São João, Teatro Sá da Bandeira, Hard Club, Cinema Passos Manuel and the Praça de D. João V, as well.

Early bird tickets are available until 18 June and grant access to all five days’ activities and also one year of virtual access to WOMEX.

WOMEX is based in Berlin, and its major annual event will head to Porto this year, following Budapest, in Hungary, Tampere, in Finland, in organising the festival. This global project features a conference cycle, over 300 stands at the trade fair in the Customs building. Several stages in town such as Rivoli, Coliseu Porto Ageas and Casa da Música will be home to concert bursts, alongside film screenings and an award giving ceremony that will acknowledge the best music makers in multiple styles of music the world over. More than 300 journalists from around the world will be in Porto to report the entire event.

The fact that WOMEX 2021 is hosted in Porto is the outcome of efforts on the side of the Portuguese Government and also by the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, who has been a supporter of this initiative since day one.

WOMEX 2021 is produced by Piranha Arts, jointly with AMG Music and relies on the support by Porto City hall, via the municipal company Ágora.
