KINO- Porto film screening of contemporary German cinema, takes place from 26 to 30 January this year. 12 German films will be shown at Rivoli Theatre and Cinema Passos Manuel, with the aim to reflect the current film trend in Germany.

The festival kicks off with "Fukushima, mon amour" by Doris Doerrie, Thursday 26th January, at 9:30 pm at Rivoli. The film sums up the gallows humor of Doris Doerrie's post-disaster traumedy, shot in the middle of Fukushima's Exclusion Zone.

Lensed in poetic black-and-white, offers a peculiar perspective on a touchy subject, suggesting that sometimes audiences, and perhaps even victims, need a vacation from misery and pity.

KINO seeks to showcase new talent and support the work of culturally diverse and emerging German filmmakers, in collaboration with the embassies of participating countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg).

This long weekend features the newest and most exciting productions and trends in German language, showcasing film "24 weeks" by Anne Zohra Berrached, "Four Kings" by Theresa von Eltz, and "Wild" by Nicolette Krebitz.

The KINO - Porto will be too much of a good thing, or des Guten zu viel , as
they say in German.

All films are shown in German with English and Portuguese subtitles.
