World ranking places U.Porto as twelfth best in Food Technology

The University of Porto (U. Porto) is included in the ranking of the 50 best world institutions in the Food Technology area.
U. Porto ranks twelfth in the Food Technology programme in the Shanghai Subject Ranking, and ranks 41st at world level in the Chemical Engineering undergraduate programme. 

Portugal is included in the ranking with seven undergraduate programmes, among the 50 best in their scientific areas, namely the Polytechnique of Bragança that is placed 33rd best.

In total there are 15 national education institutions in the Shanghai Ranking, totalling 187 programmes, 49 more than a year ago.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as Shanghai Ranking, is one of the most reputed annual publications of world university rankings. Since 2009, ARWU has been published and copyrighted annually by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, an independent organization focusing on higher education intelligence.
