The TNSJ will adjust sessions and open doors within the curfew hours, in line with the Governments’ measures, as regards weekend performances. Starting this next Saturday 14th November, the performances to National Theatre São João (TNSJ) will be altered and sessions will take to the morning period. This timetable change represents an unprecedented adaptation in the São João artistic project as a result of the pandemic context, where the Government ordered curfew in several municipalities, including Porto.

These adaptations ensure that the public service mission of São João continues, and this is also a way to safeguard commitments made by companies and artists and audiences, and maintain access to the cultural programme by TNSJ.

Therefore, all São João theatre performances take place starting at 10am and 11am, except the performance “Os Meus Sentimentos”, one of the four solo performances of the “Este é o Meu Corpo” cycle, by Mónica Calle. This six-hour performance show will start at 6am, on 21 and 22 November.

Alongside the changes to the times of the performances, the TNSJ will also strengthen the already thorough preventive measures in place, to promote audience’s added comfort and safety, such as body temperature measuring before entering the theatre room.

The contingency plan in place also includes the reduction of seat capacity and complete disinfection of the spaces, before and after each performance, through a certified nebulization system, acknowledged by APCER – Portuguese Certification Association, which has labelled TNSJ as a COVID SAFE institution.
