Vocal Group from Porto performs at the Prague Cantat 2018 International Competition

Vocal Ensemble Pro Musica is in Check Republic representing Portugal at the Prague Cantat 2018. This competition gathers 22 vocal bands of 14 countries and it runs till 4 November in Prague.

This is the 32nd edition of this international contest, and the first one featuring Portugal as a participant. The Vocal Ensemble Pro Musica competes in the category of Sacred Music, rendering performances with music by Diogo Dias Melgaz, Monteverdi and Rheinberger, among other.

The Vocal Group from Porto gathers around 80 choir members, directed by maestro and founder, José Manuel Pinheiro.

The band as also delivered several concerts in Portugal, jointly with the Orquestra do Norte and the Orquestra de Guimarães.

The group has won several international awards, such as a silver certificate in the Jazz Category and Latin Music at the 5th International Choir Competition in Riva del Garda, Italy, in 2003; the Bronze Medal in the Mixed Choir Category at the 8th International Choir Competition in Athens, Greece, in 2004, and the Golden Certificate for wining first place in the Sacred Music Category and the Grand Prize of Venice, in the 5th International Competition and Choir Festival held in Venice, Italy, in 2007.
