It is all about change, real change. The initiative “Inovação Fora de Portas - Engenharia Civil à Mostra” [“Innovation outdoors – Civil Engineering on display”, free translation] will take to the virtual platform to lead you in a conversation on the technological and innovative side of one of the most significant works in Porto. Rendez-vous is set for Friday, 28 May, at 6.30 pm and the architect in charge of the new Terminal Intermodal de Campanhã (TIC) joins the guest panel to discuss what strategic change really means. Participation is free, but prior registration is mandatory.
The talk gathers Nuno Brandão Costa, of Brandão Costa Arquitetos, as well as Elza Mendes, of the Civil Engineering Company Cacao, also Renato Bastos, of Adão da Fonseca (AdF), and the landscape architect Rita Guedes.
This session will approach the specificities of the project, which will have “a strong impact in Porto Eastern area, not only in terms of mobility and transport, but also due to its strong impact on environmental sustainability. In fact, TIC will give place to a 4.6 hectares garden, which is estimated to reduce circa 5.300 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from exhaust pipes.
In addition to the guest panel, this session also features the screening of a documentation video on the works. The Construction Daily Log (Sebenta d’Obra) will be provided at the end of the presentation.
Following TIC, the next tour by the “Inovação Fora de Portas – Engenharia à Mostra” happens on 17 June, and the highlight will be the “Pontes da cidade do Porto” [“The Bridges of Porto”, free translation].
Since the start of 2021, this initiative has presented several works and buildings, such as: “Teleférico de Gaia”, “Restauro e Modernização do Mercado do Bolhão”, “Plano Diretor Municipal” and, recently the “Parque Central da Asprela”.
The “Inovação Fora de Portas – Engenharia Civil à Mostra” is an initiative by the Municipality of Porto, via Porto Innovation Hub, jointly with the Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, in partnership with the Rectory of the U.Porto and Gaiurb, with the support of the Ordem dos Engenheiros - Região Norte and the Ordem dos Arquitetos.
The event on Friday, 28 May starts at 6.30 pm and participation is free, but prior registration is mandatory.
