Ingmar Bergman was born 100 years ago, on 14th July in Uppsala, in Sweden. Porto and Lisbon are preparing a tribute to one of the greatest filmmakers of the Twentieth century, from 11 October till 15 November 2018.

Bergman is considered to be among the most influential filmmakers of all time, with renowned directors expressing their connection with his cinematic oeuvre, quoting or even copying his films, namely Ang Lee, Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, Martin Scorcese, Francis Ford Coppola, Terry Gilliam, Zhang Yimou, Woody Allen, Akira Kurosawa, Gus van Sant, Wes Anderson, Michael Haneke, Andrzej Wajda, Ettore Scola, Federico Fellini, Wes Craven, Ridley Scott, Lars von Trier, and many other.

The most famous Swedish director ever has influenced the aesthetics of movie making, with films as "Smiles of a Summer Night" (1955), "The Seventh Seal" (1957), "Wild Strawberries" (1957), "Persona" (1966), "Cries and Whispers" (1972), "Scenes from a Marriage" (1973), and "Fanny and Alexander" (1982).

Leopardo Filmes and Medeia Filmes are preparing a tribute programme to honour Ingmar Bergman's life, work and legacy.

This homage programme will take place in Campo Alegre Theatre, in Porto and in Espaço Nimas, in Lisbon, and it includes not only the screening of some of Bergman's most influential movies but also the exclusive premiere of two documentary films - "Bergman - a Year in a Life", by Jane Magnusson (distributed by Leopardo Filmes) and "Searching for Ingmar Bergman", by Margarethe von Trotta (distributed by Outsider Films).
