TEDxPorto delivers four tons of food and essential items to Porto City Hall

TEDxPorto organisation delivered more than four tons of food and other essential items to Porto City Hall, this morning. These items were raised under the project "Porto Unido". 

Thus, the foodstuff and other essential items will be distributed to several associations in Porto, namely solidarity restaurants and institutions that are managed by the Municipality and that are concentrated in the Joaquim Urbano Temporary Accommodation Centre, where circa 400 meals are served daily to people in need.

TEDxPorto undertook this fund raising with its network of contacts and also the support of several brands that, from day one, decided to join the solidarity initiative, namely Lactogal, Caçarola, Bogani, Arcol, FOL, Farmácia Sá da Bandeira and Conservas A Poveira.

In total, the TEDxPorto team was able to raise 2.6 tons of dairy products, 300 kilos of rice, 3.660 canned goods, 1.728 bottled water, 1.412 boxes of cereals and flower, 1.440 packages of pastry, 720 bottles of oil, 480 packages of marmalade, 360 packages of shower gel, and also 300 coffee bags.

Some of the institutions that will receive this foodstuff, whose delivery is ensured by the Municipality, are A Benéfica e Previdente, the Parish of Marquês, the Youth Hostel (that accommodates elders from nursing homes affected by covid-19), the Joaquim Urbano Temporary Accommodation Centre, the Union of Boroughs of Lordelo do Ouro and Massarelos, the Union of Boroughs of Aldoar, Foz do Douro and Nevogilde, the Union of Boroughs of Porto Historic Centre, the Association of Nocturnal Shelters of Porto and the Association Norte Vida.
