Saturdays are stage reading days for kids at the municipal libraries. The sessions start at 11 am and 3.30 pm.

At Almeida Garrett Municipal Library, the storytelling time on 13 January is devoted to the work of the Italian writer Guido Visconti "The Scarecrow Who Wanted a Hug". All that Barnaby the Scarecrow longs for is to climb the hill and give Gwendoline a hug. Will Barnaby ever achieve his heart's desire?

At the Public Municipal Library, there is a puppet show based on the work "Witchfairy" by writer Brigitte Minnie and illustrator Carll Cneut.

Fairies are meant to be sweet, nice and kind. Which is why Rosemary, a fairy herself, thinks fairies are terribly boring. Rosemary prefers to be a witch, because "witches can get lovely and dirty and shout and laugh and take a boat out on the stream". She moves to the witches' wood and learns all kinds of witchy ways.

Rosemary's mum believes she will soon be back but she won't. Little by little, Rosemary convinces her that even as a fairy one can have a different life.

These sessions are part of the cultural programme "Sábados a Contar nas Bibliotecas Municipais do Porto" [Storytelling Saturdays at Porto Municipal Libraries] for families with small children, from the age of 2 and 3.
