The starting point of the spoken word sessions at Porto Book Fair is the correlation between the written and the sung word.

Porto Book Fair is back, from 7 to 23 September, honouring poet, singer and author José Mário Branco.

This year's theme is the idea of uprising and insurgence as a means to transforming society at multiple levels, through arts, be it music, literature, dance or cinema.

Spoken word is a performance art that is word based. That said, Spoken Word sessions are an excellent contribution to the Book Fair's activities programme.

The programmed Spoken Word sessions are scheduled for 9, 15, 21 and 22 September. There will be four sessions on the following themes: Utopia, Uprising, Love and Melancholy, respectively.

Join Capicua, André Tentúgal and Nuno Artur Silva for a debate on "something hard to find, but worthwhile looking for", on 9 September, at 9.30 pm at the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library Auditorium.

Selma Uamusse, Kalaf Epalanga, and Miguel Januário will host the talk on the theme of uprising and insurgence, on 15 September, at 9.30 pm, at the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library Auditorium.
