Portuguese sailors from Porto, the brothers Diogo and Pedro Costa will represent Portugal in the Tokyo Olympic Games. The sailors are brothers and both graduated in Civil Engineering. They were welcomed at Porto City Hall by Mayor Rui Moreira, who was also a professional sailor.

The duo from Porto managed to conquer the silver medal in the World Sailing Competition and qualified to compete in Tokyo, where competitions take place between 23rd July and 8th August. Diogo and Pedro Costa were runners-up in the men’s 470 class, which was held in the Algarve and gathered over 90 boats, men and women.

This also represents that the Portuguese participation in the Olympics is strengthened as the 49er sailing boat also takes part in the Olympic sailing tournament.

It should be highlighted that the Olympic Games were postponed, last year, due to pandemic constraints. The competitions take place, this year, between 23rd July and 8th August.
