The Second Civil war, is a movie from 1997, directed by Joe Dante and starring James Earl Jones, Elizabeth Peña, Denis Leary, Beau Bridges, Phil Hartman and James Coburn.

The film is a satire about anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States, a country where foreign immigration has skyrocketed: The mayor of Los Angeles only speaks Spanish, Rhode Island is mostly populated by Chinese-Americans, and Alabama has a congressman from India.

A simple immigration issue spins wildly out of control for those involved, ranging from the President of the United States, to a news producer.

Before being released to home video, the film was shown in theatres in Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands and France in 1997 and 1998.

In Australia, the film was released directly to video in April/May 1998. The DVD was released in 2005.

Beau Bridges won the 1997 Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Special for his portrayal of a Governor of Idaho who decides to close that state's borders to immigrants, precipitating a national crisis.

Watch first at Rivoli Theatre, on April 4th, at 6:30 pm.
