Procession da Luz lines the streets of downtown Porto this evening

The Procissão da Luz [Procession of the Light] takes place in downtown Porto, today starting at 9.30pm.

The procession represents devotion to the Virgin Mother and departs from the Trindade Church, lining the streets of downtown Porto, including Aliados, Formosa Street, Santa Catarina and Passos Manuel Streets, back to Aliados Avenue and then Trindade Church, where the Bishop of Porto, D. Manuel Linda will preside the blessing ceremony.

The aim of this initiative is "the celebration of the end of the month of May, a month of religious significance, where not only residents but also tourists take part in the procession, very popular in Porto", referred Ecclesia Agency, quoting the Diocese of Porto.
