Portuguese translator Elisabeth Monteiro Rodrigues was awarded the Great Translation Prize of the City of Arles for the French edition of the book "Da Família", by Portuguese writer Valério Romão.

The prize was announced on 8 October by the French Association Atlas, dedicated to the promotion of literary translation achievements.

Elisabeth Monteiro Rodrigues also translates Mia Couto and Teolinda Gersão, as well as other Portuguese language writers, in France.

The jury of the prize regarded Elisabeth Monteiro Rodrigues's translation "De la famille" as excellent work, and Monteiro Rodrigues "is able to convey the author's talent and range of vocabulary".

The prize giving ceremony is scheduled for 9 November at the du Méja Association, in the context of the 35th Literary Translation Meeting in Arles.

As of 1995, the Great Prize of Translation of the city of Arles acknowledges outstanding literary translation work.
