Porto International Airport is the best in Europe and the third best in the world

A survey carried out in 178 airports by DECO - a Portuguese Consumer Association, states that Porto International Airport is the best in Europe and the third best in the world.

Thousands of passengers from eight countries have responded to the survey.

Passengers also expressed their opinions on services provided by 72 airlines. TAP came on 53rd position with regards to timeliness and 31st position as far as overall satisfaction is concerned.

The survey was carried out by DECO in October 2016 jointly with similar associations in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Spain, France and Italy.

From the 11.273 responses received, only 1.751 are from Portugal. What it does signify is that the bottom line result arises from a broad universe of passengers.

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport came third, scoring 8.3 points on a scale from 1 to 10, in the overall assessment of the 178 airports. Ghangi, Singapore (1st place scoring 8, 6 points) and Narita, Tokyo (2nd place, scoring 8.3 points). Lisbon airport ranked 46th.

According to Proteste magazine, "Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport in Porto conveys a feeling of safety within airport premises, also departure and arrival information screens, orientation signs and washroom services are the criteria that most satisfy passengers".

As for airlines, the study shows that "flight punctuality is a key indicator of passenger satisfaction". TAP Portugal ranks 53rd regarding punctuality. According to DECO, survey respondents reported about a quarter of flights delayed. United Arab Emirates holds first place as the most punctual airliner.
