Porto 2017 European Design Awards offers special discounts to students

For the first time hosted in Porto, the European Design Awards Festival offers special conditions to students. 

Students are eligible to pay 5 euros to attend the conference, and the awards ceremony on May 27. Also, students will be able to access freely all activities associated with the event, such as design workshops.

The news was given today by Demetrios Fakinos, the Festival Director, before a full audience of future designers. This is only possible due to the relentless efforts by Porto City Hall that has always expressed its clear support for the idea of making this event available to a wider audience.

"One of the agreements we made with Porto City Hall, which is a co-organizing entity,  was that we would make this event as accessible as possible for the young generation and students," stressed Demetrios Fakinos at the Porto 2017 ED Awards launch conference held at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto (FBAUP) and at ESAD-Matosinhos. 

This "warm-up" is the result of a challenge launched by the City Hall in order to mark World Design Day with two pre-conferences in the city of Porto and prepare for the ED Awards Ceremony.

Alistair Barrie will host the ceremony at Rivoli Theatre, on 27 May.
