As soon as possible, when the pandemic preventive measures are lifted, be delighted with “The Butterfly's Burden” mural by artist from Porto Teresa Rafael, aka RAFI die Erste, at the intersection of Rua de Vilar and the Rua de D. Pedro V. In the meantime we offer you a hint on what to expect.

This artwork is inspired by a book with the same title, by the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. According to the author, the painting is aimed at “building a bridge between the onlooker and “a ray of light” that is revealed when we stop”.

This is one of the three latest interventions under the Porto Urban Art Programme in transformation substations of the EDP in the city. The other two, by OKER and GODMESS, are located at the Rua de Oliveira Monteiro and at Campo 24 de Agosto, respectively.

The programme of Porto Urban Art puts forward street art by local artists. The initiative is implemented by the municipal company Ágora – Cultura e Desporto do Porto. The new set of urban art interventions will remain in place for one year.
