“Uma voz pela paz” (a voice for peace) , the solidarity concert – already completely sold out - gathered more than 30 musicians, it is another echo of the will that Porto has shown to help the Ukrainians escaping the Russian invasion. Proceeds were entirely given to the Ukrainian Red Cross, Voices of Children and UBTS Emergency Center.

“O princípio do mundo começou agora” (The beginning of the world is now)The phrase of hope for the end of the invasion of Ukraine, written by Pedro Abrunhosa in a song dedicated to the Ukrainian victims, “Que o amor te salve nesta noite escura” (May love save you on this dark night) reflects the meaning of the night that was experienced yesterday in Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota. Outside, the concert hall lit up of yellow and blue, the colors of the Ukrainian flag, in an initiative by Porto City Hall to strengthen the voices calling for peace on the inside.

They come from different musical styles, sing for different audiences, but this time they gave voice to the same cause and the music was of unity. With Catarina Furtado as a host, Carolina Deslandes, Diogo Piçarra, Dino D’Santiago, Capicua, Gisela João, Paulo de Carvalho, Miguel Araújo, Pedro Abrunhosa, David Fonseca, Maria João, Marisa Liz, Moulinnex, Teresa Salgueiro, We Trust and many others left in Porto a resounding message for peace.

The initiative by Selma Uamusse and André Tentugal, sought to “be a hug disguised as a concert and a claim for the restoration of normality in the Ukrainian territory”. “It is music at the service of solidarity and celebration of fraternity among peoples”, they say.

To keep on helping the Ukrainian people, the campaign “We are all Ukrain” that joins the municipalities of Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos is ongoing, in the mission of collecting basic goods, finding accommodation and jobs for the refugees arriving at the region, as well as making available support services.

From this united Atlantic Front two trucks with donations have already left for the Polish-Ukrainian border.
