The 9th edition of Porto City Race pedestrian orienteering competition is back on 28th, 29th and 30th May. Following the cancellation of the race last year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the competition is back this year and registrations are now open. See here for further information.

This sports event is organised by the Quatro Caminhos Sports Group, in partnership with Porto City Hall, via the Municipal Company Ágora – Cultura e Desporto do Porto. The event is scheduled for May and includes another three running areas, as participants are invited to go through new spaces and circuits in the city of Porto. The race encompasses three stages in separate days and with separate scores.

The Competitive programme kick starts with the Porto City Race by Night, a nocturnal stage that is to be performed starting at 8.30 pm on 28th May, with arrival and departure at the Campus Tecnológico de Ramalde. The circuit includes the parishes of Ramalde and Aldoar, as well as several social housing neighbourhoods.

The next morning, on 29th May, the event continues with the traditional Sprint. This time, the circuit is the City Park, with rendezvous point at the Water Pavilion and inaugurating a new route. This second stage also marks the inclusive side of Porto City Race, as it includes an adapted orienteering that scores for the Portugal Cup of that competition.

Finally, on 30th May, the chief event of Porto City Race is held also with a new circuit that includes the parishes of Bonfim and Campanhã, with arrival and departure in the headquarters of Águas do Porto, at the Rua do Barão de Nova Sintra. This stage scores for the national circuit, the Portugal City Race, themed Planeta Água and includes a circuit through several parks, gardens, schools and social neighbourhoods in the eastern part of the city.

This event is open to all people, young and old alike, either in the Open Classes or in the Category Competition. The latter is only for individual participation, while the Open Classes allow for group participation.

The competition will score for Portugal's National Cup of Pedestrian Orientation 2020. The race is open to everyone, of any age group, and participation can be individual or in group. Non federate athletes are still able to take part in the competing races, where registration fees are the same both for federate and non-federate athletes.

The organisation will provide monitoring and coaching to less experienced runners.

Register to Porto City Race at the event’s website. Registration fees are the same for federate and non-federate runners.
