Porto and Lisbon went to Cannes to attract foreign investment

The Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, and the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, were, last Wednesday, the speakers at a conference on the transformation of cities, in a post pandemic context at MIPIM. Both Portuguese municipalities are present at the world’s largest real estate fair – MIPIM – which takes place annually in Cannes (France), with the aim of attracting investment.

The session, on the theme “Leading Urban Transformation in Post-Pandemic Times”, was moderated by the director of Diário de Notícias, Rosália Amorim, and both mayors discussed the strenghts of the two cities to attract national and foreign investors.

The Mayor of Porto presented strategies, positioning and the investment ecosystem of Porto, taking a look at what is expected of the cities of the future, which are currently constituted as centers of sharing, innovation and wealth.

In front of an attentive audience, themes like housing, energy, offices, mobility and environment, where discussed, areas where there are new business opportunities.

The MIPIM ran until last Friday, 18 March, and was attended by representatives from 100 countries, 3800 companies and more than 480 speakers. Porto presented itself to investors around the world with a delegation of 16 companies and more than 75 real estate projects in different segments (residential, offices, hotels, commerce and urban rehabilitation).
