Porto hosts the Porta-Jazz Festival from 1 to 9 December, all over town, offering 30 concerts that will bring new narratives in Jazz through premieres and unique artistic partnerships. There will be school meetings, workshops and jam sessions to promote exchanges and networking between Jazz musicians.

This 9th edition presents bassist Thomas Morgan and Marcos Cavaleiro; saxophonist Chris Cheek and the MAP quartet, led by Paulo Gomes; drummer Jeff Williams and Demian Cabaud in "Astah", and the Gonçalo Marques quartet; as well as Eliot Zigmund (drummer who recorded with Bill Evans) and Manel Fortià and Carlos Azevedo.

For nine days, Rivoli Theatre, the Casa da Música, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, the Cinema Passos Manuel, the Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo, the Hot Five, the Casa de Ló and the Sala Porta-Jazz and, for the first time, the Church of Cedofeita will be the stage to over one hundred musicians and music students, both Portuguese and foreigners.

The Church of Cedofeita hosts the concert with the trio Susana Santos Silva, Torbjörn Zetterberg and Hampus Lindwall, who will perform with the pipe organ built by Th. Kuhn.

Besides, audiences will be able to enjoy the ambiance of the Clubedo sessions, which are daily events held in the auditoriums and prior to the concerts to revive the Jazz mood.

Porta-Jazz Festival is a key part of the cultural scene in the city, and it is also an important reference for jazz in Portugal.
