The city of Porto will be present at the largest European technology conference and will take on the role of representative of the millennial relationship between the wine industry and the economy. The Web Summit takes place in Lisbon, from November 1st to 4th.

Closing the event, at 4 pm on Friday, the Councilor of Economy, Employment and Entrepreneurship of the Porto City Council takes the Q&A stage of the Web Summit to, alongside the CEO of Taylor's Port, Adrian Bridge, show Porto as a city that attracts, retains and develops talent. Ricardo Valente believes that “people want to live in cities that, like wine, honour their history and roots, without ever stopping to evolve, in a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship”.

With the certainty that this connection between the economy and the wine industry, which has always been a combination of tradition and innovation, translates two core axes for the prosperity of a civilization – expression (culture) and exchange (economy) – the representation of Porto as a neuralgic pole of creativity, a place of innovation, agglomeration of economies, ideas and cultures, can also be experienced at the Wine Summit.

In this second edition of the initiative that the technology conference dedicates to the communication and marketing of the wine sector, Porto will have a unique space for a more complete and immersive experience, where a network spirit will be promoted.

This will also be a moment to promote the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, the worldwide network of capitals of extensive vineyards, of which Porto is a founding member, in the Douro and Vinhos Verde regions. In addition to Invicta (Porto City), this network includes the cities of Adelaide (Australia) Bilbao - Rioja (Spain), Bordeaux (France), Cape Town (South Africa), Lausanne (Switzerland), Mainz (Germany), Mendoza (Argentina), San Francisco (United States), Valparaíso (Chile) and Verona (Italy).

At the Web Summit, Great Wine Capitals will present the regional winners of Best Of Wine Tourism. This competition that aims to reward wine tourism projects/services that stand out for their excellence and innovation. The prizes are presented this Thursday, day 3, in Argentina.
