Now that SWISS is flying from Zurich to Porto about eleven times a week and from Geneva to Porto up to eight times a week, just make it happen.

Plan the adventures you are going to have in Porto and get inspired by the short trip itinerary "My Porto", prepared by the internationally multi awarded designer Eduardo Aires (eduardoaires.com), upon invitation by Swiss Magazine.

Eduardo Aires, the local ambassador for this route, helped create the brand image for the city of Porto, Porto., and is a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.

This route really adds-on to your own experience in Porto, the Invicta. In addition to being a truly picturesque location, Porto' superb local food and cultured atmosphere will welcome any visitor with charm and attitude.

The city must-dos include visits to some of the most iconic scenes in town. If needs be to book a really nice hotel, go for the Hotel Teatro, a glamourous venue that once was a theatre.

The Confeitaria do Bolhão, a quaint bakery is the place to go if you want to seat at "small round marble tables arranged in front of high mirrored" and be delighted with a galão (milk coffee) and tigelinhas (apple-egg cake, the house speciality), a jesuíta slice (puff pastry with sugar icing) or a giant croissant. This should be enough to make you mouth water.

Next stop, the Mercado do Bolhão, which is temporarily housed in the Shopping Centre La Vie, as the old building in undergoing full infrastructure renovation.

Another amazing thing to do in Porto is to pay a visit to "Vida Portuguesa", a large concept store with all items you can possible imagine labelled "made in Portugal", from toothpaste to kitchen utensils, wool blankets and books, coffee and tinned food, just to name a few.

You should eat at some point, and we mean literally, so the point could be the restaurant "Cozinha da Amélia", in the western part of the city. What's on the menu? Fish stew, tripe with haricot beans and grilled giant prawns. Another option would be the "Oficina" restaurant, a former car workshop service. While eating scallops with peas, octopus on sweet potato purée and beef with mushroom risotto, one can appreciate the art gallery decorating the walls. What more can one ask?

For dessert, the "Gelataria Sincelo" offers home-made ice cream flavours of almost 40 years. The icing on the cake is the dulce de leche ice cream.

We did say gastronomy is premium quality in the city, so head to "Aduela", they "serve nearly everything", as posted in the entry sign. Just visit the place and see for yourself, while sitting "on the terrace under the olive tree with a glass of wine in your hand"!

If you are in the mood for a menu that features lots of fish dishes such as tuna tartare and stuffed squid, or generous steaks and pasta, the sophisticated Cafeína restaurant, located in Foz, is the optimal choice.

As the warm weather season is here, the "Nossa Praia Gondarém" bar, with Ibiza atmosphere is the perfect place to enjoy a stunning sunset, holding a white wine sangria on one hand and a cool beer on the other.

This "Short Trip" by Eduardo Aires has got you covered. All you have to do is to hop on!
