Outdoor cinema cycle on Portuguese music at the Casa Comum of the Rectory

The Casa Comum of the Universidade do Porto, in partnership with IndieLisboa, features an outdoor cinema cycle on Portuguese music. Sessions are entrance free and are scheduled for 3, 4 and 5 June, at 9.30 pm, in the Patio of the Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto (in Cordoaria).

The big screen will display three Portuguese films whose world premiere happened in the IndieMusic section, namely “Tecla Tónica”, by Eduardo Morais, on show on 3 June. The fdilm will provide an account on Portuguese electronic music, as early as 1960 and until present time, featuring names as DJ Vibe, Vítor Rua or José Cid.

The following day, on 4 June, it’s time to watch “Um Punk Chamado Ribas”, a documentary film on João Ribas, the national icon of punk genre, although he has always rejected that title. Ribas founded several punk bands such as Ku de Judas, os Censurados and the Tara Perdida.

On 5 June, the film “Ama Romanta – Uma Utopia que Fazia Discos” takes to the silver screen to report on the avant-garde mouvemnet by Ama Romanta, a publisher created by João Peste. This id the opportunity to watch the best Portuguese music of the 1980’s and the emergence of such names as Pop Dell’Arte, Mão Morta, Telectu, Sei Miguel, Mler Ife Dada or Santa Maria Gasolina em Teu Ventre.
