Don't miss the chance to visit or revisit the showcase of Miró's art work that will remain permanently in Porto and unveils to the public a set of works of the surrealist painter.

This is the last week that the exhibition "Joan Miró: Materiality and Metamorphosis" is on display at Casa de Serralves, opened since the 30th September 2016.

Curated by Robert Lubar Messeri, a leading world expert in the work of Miró, the exhibition which is open until next Saturday, January 28, brings together some eighty works by the artist: three-dimensional pieces, sculptures, textiles and prints, tapestry and collages.

The works that currently form part of the Joan Miró collection "Materiality and Metamorphosis" are in the custody and under the supervision of the Municipality of Porto, as announced by Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto.

A building for Joan Miró's work

After the closing of the exhibition, the Casa de Serralves building will undergo renovation works to house the art work of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

The extension works will be designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, who was in charge of the conception and articulation of the exibition space.

Joan Miró's simple forms and primary colours forged a highly personal artistic universe, making him an exponent of the modern artistic sensibility.
