KINO - German Film Festival celebrates its 15th edition and as of 24 January, the Rivoli Theatre and the Passos Manuel Cinema will feature a comprehensive programme that includes the latest films in the German language.

This event is jointly organised by the Goethe Institut and Porto Municipal Theatre.

The four-day event will provide participants with an opportunity to view fiction film and documentaries that reflect the different trends and framework of film industry in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

The festival, which also takes place in Coimbra and in Lisbon, opens with "Beuys", the latest documentary by Andres Veiel, who made his debut in the Berlinale 2017, presenting a material and sound collage that makes the life, ideology and artwork of Joseph Beuys known to the public.

The guiding principle of the festival in Porto is awareness and self-reflection in the art world, as the film "Casting", by Nicolas Wackerbarth, so demonstrates. The film premiered at the Berlinale, in the Forum Section, and was chosen as the end movie of the festival in Porto.

The programme is complemented by names known to the KINO audiences, namely Axel Ranisch and Wolfgang Becker, as well as the work of promising young talents of filmmaking.
