More than 40 invited guests, from around the world, take part in the Forum of the Future, between 5 and 11 November, in Porto, to launch a reflection process on the stability of our planet.

Some of the most outstanding names in sciences, philosophy or arts participate in conferences, with free entrance in various spaces in the city of Porto.

Over seven days, philosophy, science, and art but also nature, love and technology are some of the topics that will stimulate the debate of this year's Forum of the Future by "exploring the several options for a critical thinking to understanding the impact of our daily activities on the planet", noted Guilherme Blanc, from the Culture Department of Porto Municipality.

With the involvement of partners such as Casa da Música, Serralves Foundation, and mala voadora, the Culture Department of Porto City Hall has decided to theme this edition of the Forum of the Future "Electrical Earth", contributing to the debate on "the most important topic of today's world", stated Mayor Rui Moreira, who mentioned the role of Humankind on Earth and its finite resources as one the most relevant debates on modern society.

This event is budgeted at EUR 155,000, and it welcomes 43 guest speakers from all around the world, including international journalists.

In addition, the number of conferences is extended from 22 to 26 and the sessions will be held at Coliseu Porto, Palácio do Bolhão, The Science and Natural History Museum of Porto University and the Faculty of Fine Arts, as well as in the usual places such as Rivoli, Serralves, São João National Theatre, Casa da Música and mala voadora.

The issues discussed will be many and varied, ranging from sociological subjects related to city design (Richard Sennett and Gareth Evans) to gender issue (Genesis Breyer P-Orridge from Psychic TV and Stanley Schtinter) or to the voluntary human extinction (Les U. Knight and Vânia Rodrigues), and violence in society (Steven Pinker and José Pacheco Pereira) or even the most recent scientific findings on the universe (David Shoemaker, spokesperson for LIGO Scientific Collaboration, this year's Nobel Prize winner for physics, and Orfeu Bertolami).

Programming also includes an exhibition of the happy together 3 Project, the screening of the documentary "Two Years at Sea" by Ben Rivers, a man who lives in the forest and is self-sufficient, a concert by Flamingods, a performance by "walking artist" Hamish Fulton and also three "adult only" nights with the Ecosex Club - an installation/performance that invites the audience to share erotic and ecological longings with plants, living creatures and the Earth.
