The International Iberian Theatre Festival (FITEI) and the Days of the Dance (DDD) will be jointly organised for the 2020 edition, similarly to what was done this year.

For five weeks, Porto Municipal Theatre gathered two festivals - DDD and FITEI - national and international artists and audiences, with dance, theatre, installations, and music, in the context of DDD + FITEI 2019.

As for 2020, the starting point of the FITEI and DDD festivals will still be Porto but the programming extends to other cities in the region.

In a statement, the organization announced some of the highlights of each initiative, namely the "Semana +" in the context of FITEI, featuring dance and theatre performances, with an array of international renowned programmers.

In turn, the DDD will launch "Quinta-feira..." [Thursday?], organised by the Portuguese dancer and choreographer Cláudia Dias, together with the Spanish Idoia Zabaleta, as well as an international coproduction of renowned Italian choreographer Alessandro Sciarroni", themed "Augusto".

It is worth highlighting the performance "Entrevista 86", in the scope of FITEI, by Patrícia Portela and Alexandre Dal Farra, created in an artistic residency, which was carried out this year, and the play "Artaud", by Argentinian Sergio Boris.

The outcome of this 42nd edition of FITEI and the 4th of DDD, which concluded on 25 May, is a positive one, both by the "artistic complicity achieved" and the "communication partnership".

In total, over "23.000 people", mostly from Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Matosinhos and Viana do Castelo, with 57 indoor shows were sold out: 15 theatre plays and 28 dance shows.

In the streets, the "DDD Out" programme was attended by circa 2.000 people, who enjoyed theatre workshops, dance performances and artistic residencies.

The "Semana +", a FITEI novelty brought together a total of 98 programmers from 76 countries.

This year marks the combining of two arts festivals in Porto, namely DDD- Days of the Dance Festival and FITEI - International Iberian Theatre Festival, from April to May.

This joint organisation allowed audiences to find their desired performance, be it dance or theatre, as Rivoli accommodated five consecutive weeks of both national and international arts programming.

Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP) joined the DDD + FITEI 2019 for a programming on dance and theatre, of over two dozen performances, workshops, meetings, associated activities and after-show parties. See you next year for another joint programming.
