European Researchers Night brings science and fun to Porto

The European Researchers Night is scheduled to happen in Porto on 28 September, in Palácio das Artes, and on 29 and 30 September, in Serralves.

Researchers will have a handful evening with Science Troopers helping in the intergalactic battle for sustainability in five planets, namely Health, Nutrition, ICT, Environment and Energy.

This initiative is promoted by the European Commission since 2005, and its main goal is to celebrate science by bringing it closer to citizens.

Framed in the Marie (Sk?odowska) Curie Actions, the European Researchers' Night is celebrated in more than 30 countries and 300 cities throughout Europe, simultaneously.

The theme of the event in the city of Porto is "May Science be with you!" and it aims at bringing scientists and researchers closer to the non-scientific public, thus recognizing the impact of science and research on society.

"This initiative includes the display of two projects by young researchers who have represented Portugal at the European Competition Science, as well as two conferences on astrophysics, "Light pollution" and "Space Exploration" in particular", enthuses Joana Soares from the organisation.
