Economia do Porto Prize with more than five thousand euros for research projects

The city of Porto once again distinguishes academic essays or research projects that focus on a topic of relevance and interest for the city’s economy. Applications for the second edition of the Economia do Porto Prize open this Friday and run until November 30.

The Economia do Porto Prize seeks original projects, developed in areas such as economic development strategies, investment attraction, talent attraction and retention, competitiveness, knowledge and innovation networks, entrepreneurship, or economic diplomacy.

The aim is to encourage research into the local and regional economy, creating a stage for new perspectives, where students and researchers can present their vision of the economy of Porto, from a new angle.

In this edition, the Municipality awards a monetary prize in the amount of 3.000 euros to the first place, 1.500 euros to the second best and the third receives 1.000 euros.

Essays and research developed in Portuguese or English, over the last three years, published between November 30,2019 and November 30, 2022, are eligible.

Applications can be submitted until 11:59 pm on November 30, and the projects will be evaluated according to their social and economic relevance; the originality, relevance, and scientific qualities; and, for the transferability and applicability, clarity and, writing quality.

In the first edition, the first winner of the Economia do Porto Prize was a master’s student at the Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Porto with an essay on attracting international talent to the city.
