Cultural programme "Cultura em Expansão" fosters social cohesion

The new edition of cultural programme "Cultura em Expansão" features a circus festival, an inflatable movie theatre, a mobile art gallery, and several other activities.

Twenty one projects and sixty eight performances will be presented throughout this year's edition that will integrate all the city's parishes for the first time ever.

Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, explained at the Pasteleira neighbourhood that the Cultura em Expansão, a concept created by Paulo Cunha e Silva, former councilman for Culture, to extend culture to those who have fewer opportunities to be near the cultural processes or activities, will for the first time include all parishes of Porto.

This edition will focus on the multiplicity of artistic and aesthetic performances, which marks a commitment towards consolidating the results already achieved in previous editions, namely the OUPA project and the "Espírito do Lugar".

Rui Moreira further stated that "the maturity of this edition mirrors a specific option to programme different projects and analyse the city through their creative processes, by involving artists, cultural agents, and residents of different areas in Porto".
