Casa da Música plays host to the international congress "Lo que de Verdad Importa", organised by the Spanish homonymous Foundation, on 11 April. Mayor of Porto attended the opening ceremony.

This initiative is aimed at raising awareness on universal values such as tolerance, forgiveness, solidarity, resilience and optimism through the testimonies of people whose lives have been permanently changed by their personal experience, thus helping people understand "what truly matters" in life and that it is possible to overcome difficulties as insurmountable as they might seem.

The first testimony of the day was shared by Shane O'Doherty, former member of Terrorist Group IRA, who decided to lay down his guns and fight terrorism.

Throughout the day, the audience will have the opportunity to learn from Fernando Costa, young Portuguese entrepreneur and partner of Swimwear DCK, bestselling product in Portugal and Joe Santos, cofounder of the "Vencer o Autismo Institution", who shares what autism has taught him.

The Foundation "Lo que de Verdad Importa" organizes numerous congresses in Spain and in Latin America, since 2007, with the fundamental aim of disseminating the universal human, ethical and moral values, by means of cultural activities.
