As we ease back into welcoming outdoor weekends, why not celebrate Sunday, 30 May, at 11 am, at Coliseu Porto Ageas, for the musical performance “Peter and the Wolf”, the first show under the cycle “Concertos Promenade”. The debut is narrated live by known actor and comedian Bruno Nogueira. Ticket prices range from 6 to 14 euros.

The “Peter and the Wolf” musical performance features artistic direction by maestro Cesário Costa, comments by musicologist Jorge Castro Ribeiro and a multimedia element by the designer Sara Botelho. This will be the debut of the new Concertos Promenade 2.0 cycle, which includes seven performances until the end of the year. Mind that all shows always come along with a surprise!

The debut is narrated live by known actor and comedian Bruno Nogueira and music is delivered by the Orquestra Clássica de Espinho. This performance brings along an element of multimedia that is set to create the cultural atmosphere of the composer’s work.

“Peter and the Wolf” is a 1946 animated short based on the 1936 musical composition by Sergei Prokofiev. It is said that the composer wrote this sort of fairy tale to encourage children to be interested in music. The plot revolves around Peter, a lonely boy that finds himself locked out of the woods by his protective grandfather, his only friend being a duck. What happens next? Go and find out.

This symphonic fairy tale is also an excellent opportunity to discover the sounds of different instruments such as the bassoon, the French horn, the flute or the clarinet.

About the Concertos Promenade

The Concertos Promenade were first introduced in Portugal by the Coliseu in 2005, and with several seasons, until 2014, these concerts would gather up to 130 thousands spectators.

Now, they are back with the same artistic team, but with a refreshed contemporary vision that will be the delight of families, adults and children alike, once a month, on Sundays mornings, featuring an eclectic repertoire, full of surprises, dance, narration and the participation of several orchestras.

Coliseu Porto Ageas brings back this tradition to the Invicta, in the year that marks its 80th anniversary, with the support of Porto City Hall.

Ticket prices range from 6 to 14 euros. A pass for the entire Concertos Promenade is available with a 50% discount, at the Coliseu Ticket Office.
