The European University Information Systems Association (EUNIS) Rectors' conference 2018 will take place at the Rectory of the University of Porto, on 26th April.

The EUNIS is the Association of Information Technology Services in European Higher Education and Research institutions, established in 1993 with the fundamental goal of encouraging cooperation between higher education institutions and other organisations and industry suppliers.

This Rectors' Conference is held once every two years, organised by EUNIS. The event is jointly planned and hosted by one of its members and attended by Presidents, Vice Presidents, Provosts, Vice Chancellors and Rectors from many Higher Education Institutions in European countries and beyond.

The 2018 Rectors' Conference is themed University 5.0 - Bridging people and technology. This is the 6th edition of a series of EUNIS Rectors' Conferences, which was held for the first time in Paris, in 2003.

The conference was three times hosted in Prague (2012), Helsinki and Espoo (2014) and Krakow (2016).

Porto plays host for the 2018 edition, and the main theme is "University 5.0". This event is aimed at assessing and debating the continual development in Higher Education, its strategy, policies, and governance.

This will be a major networking opportunity and the perfect occasion for stakeholders to discuss the impact of information technology advances and their role in the context of higher education institutions.

European Commissioner for Science, Research & Innovation, Carlos Moedas, will be in charge of the opening session of the 2018 Rectors' Conference in the University of Porto, which will gather around 150 Rectors and Presidents of HE institutions, from April 26 to 28.

Interventions will also be made by the Rector of the University of Porto, Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo, the Vice-Rector in charge of Information Technology Management, José Martins Ferreira, and the President of EUNIS and Chief Information Officer of the University of Münster, Raimund Vogl.
