The Porto Child and Youth Protection Commissions and the Porto City Hall are organising a cinema-debate cycle during the month of April as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Also involving the other commissions of the city, this cycle aims to bring together the entire community for the rights of children, with special emphasis on the prevention of child abuse. This activity aims to strengthen relationships in families in order to raise awareness in the community about the importance of preventing child abuse, so as to foster positive parenting in a perspective of empowerment of the children themselves.

One should remember that the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Young People promotes the organisation of activities, within the framework of the Child Abuse Prevention Month, similar to what has happened in the USA for over 30 years and, more recently, in several European countries, mostly in Eastern Europe.

The sessions will be held at Batalha Cinema Centre, with free admission and beginning at 5:30 pm, with the presentation of the following films:

April 14 - "Shoplifters – A family of small thieves", Hirokazu Kore-eda (Japan, 121 m.) - commented on by Catarina Ribeiro;

April 21 - "Mustang", Deniz Gamze Ergüven (Türkiye/France/Qatar, 2017, 97 m) - commented on by André Lamas Leite;

April 28 - "La tête Haute – Head Held High", Emmanuelle Bercot (France, 2015, 120m) - commented on by Norberto Martins.
