Porto is now a member of European network Safer Nightlife, a European peer project issued with the aim of promoting health and harm reduction in recreational settings. Cities as Brussels, Barcelona, Paris and Berlin are also members of this network.

The "Quality In" certification standard has been implemented in Porto, which allow that municipal policies and practices are integrated and developed at local level.

In Porto, this platform is labelled SAFE!N Porto, which focuses on the more animated streets of the city.

This project is implemented by Porto City Hall jointly with Piaget Agency for development - the single national entity that is part of the Party+ European network, which is responsible for quality certification - and it aims at improving nightlife health and security issues as well as party-related risk awareness.

The Safer Nightlife project is based on integrated partnerships that involve residents, entrepreneurs, nightlife professionals, health and safety professionals, policy makers, party goers and security forces, in the framework of taking an active role within the community and according to the local context.

SAFE!N Porto holds training sessions targeted at local nightlife projects, providing know-how and useful information related to conflict management, legislation and risk behaviour.

Thus, the "Quality In" label is the guarantee of a quality venue to party in a safer way.
