The largest event ever will be hosted in the city of Porto this September. The Water Innovation Week (PWIW) starts the 24th and will gather 900 participants from 60 countries, world-class debaters and hundreds of companies, including scientists, experts' consultants from the five continents and water related companies.

Porto Water Innovation Week (PWIW) extends until 30 September and it is jointly organised with Porto City Hall, through the Municipal Company Águas do Porto, also through Águas de Portugal, the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering and Portuguese Partnership for Water.

The Old Customs House - Porto Conference Centre will play host to the three main events: the EIP Water Conference and the Mayors & Water Conference, with the European stamp of approval and the Water Innovation Lab Europe, designed by the Canadian Company Waterlution.

For a full week, global innovation-leaders involved in water and innovation will take stock of the situation of water as an essential element in the conservation of world ecosystems.

The represented countries are as diverse as Bhutan, Iran, Iraq, Mali, Nepal and Togo. This diversity also means that the powerful element of water is unifying the world as cross cutting perspectives and approaches are most needed to solving one of the biggest problems of today's world: water scarcity.

One full week, four big events

The Fourth Edition of The EIP Water Conference 2017, promoted by the European Water Innovation Partnership, to be held on 27and 28 September.

The Mayors & Water Conference 2017, to be held on 29 September, will focus on the Urban Water Agenda 2030 (AUA20130) and showcasing case studies in the search for sustainable and innovative solutions for water management in the cities.

This will also be the time for political decision makers to sign the Porto Declaration for AUA20130, in which cities and the European Union undertake to support jointly the search for solutions and best practices implemented in the city by this municipal company.

The Water Innovation Lab Europe, target at people between 18 and 35 years old, will run the entire week, from 24 to 29 September, aimed at boosting new ideas on water.

Entertainment and Performing Arts

The city is invited, as well, to take part in this full week devoted to water and water resources at large; thus, the event Water & People, will take place throughout the entire PWIW week.

This initiative culminates with the fourth edition of Aquaporto 2017, the traditional water festival sponsored by Águas do Porto since 2014, in the City Park, on 29 and 30 September.

These initiatives are all free of charge, except for the Innovation Dinner and the Water Innovation Lab Europe Porto 2017.

Door open the full week for the exhibition on water that comprises around 100 exhibitors from various countries.
